The potable water that sustains us; the transformers that empower us; the subways that transport us. In cities around the world, climate change is making visible the infrastructures that were once hidden.
What is the role of art in this process? How can art hasten and clarify this infrastructural awakening? And what would it mean to go beyond infrastructure-as-gallery to truly embed artistry within the infrastructural networks that sustain us?
This panel discussion brings together artists, thinkers, creators, and policy-makers to ponder these questions and propose arts and culture as tools for rebuilding public sphere.
Panelists include:
Sherry Dobbin (moderator): Managing & Cultural Director of FutureCity and Chair of the ULI UK Urban Art Forum
Gabe Guilliams: Principal for Lighting Design with Buro Happold
Raafat Majzoub: Architect, artist, writer, and director of The Khan: The Arab Association for Prototyping Cultural Practices
Filwa Nazer: Multi-media conceptual artist practicing in Saudi Arabia
